Highlights

•A short peptide for bevacizumab purification was designed.
•Bevacizumab was purified with an Ac-PHQGQHIGVSK-agarose chromatography column.
•Mild conditions used during the chromatography preserves the full integrity of bevacizumab.
•Maximum capacity of peptide-matrix was comparable to commercial protein A matrices.
•The peptide ligand has a higher stability and a lower cost than protein A.
